Enduring the Quiet Seasons

A reflection on love, distance, and resilience in later life.

A Winter Morning

Today is my regular day off. The endless snow has finally stopped, and the air feels mild—a gentle relief after what felt like an endless winter. This morning, I wrote in my notebook, and by afternoon, I found myself reflecting here on feelings I cannot easily set aside.

Loneliness and Longing

Yesterday, loneliness weighed heavily on me—not just the absence of company, but a deep, aching solitude. It came sharply after watching a podcast about adult children who distance themselves from their parents for their own mental health. The program made me think of my daughter, who visited the home town I live in, in last November but did not see me. I sent her a message wishing her well, yet her absence left a quiet ache that lingers still.

Finding Strength in Life

Over the years, I have learned that when life feels overwhelming, I must turn to something that sustains me. Gardening, piano, home decorating, even learning new technologies—all have been ways to stay grounded and keep moving forward.

Recently, I built a small blog. It is my way of leaving a legacy—thoughts, reflections, and experiences for anyone who may read them in the future.

Enduring Love

Though it is painful to accept distance from my daughter, I continue with life, as my own mother carried on for us. Her quiet sacrifices remind me to endure, to love without expectation, and to leave something behind that truly matters.

Mommy, I miss you!
My one and only, I miss you very much!!
